SELECTING THE RIGHT FLOORING

Selecting the right flooring can be a real challenge. New types of flooring products are being announced all the time.  Asia Carpet and Decorating has access to thousands of different products from the leading manufacturers in the flooring industry.  Our flooring consultants can help you select the best floor for your needs and your budget.
Here are a few things to consider:

Hardwood floors continue to be the flooring of choice for many homeowners because they are durable and beautiful. Of the hardwoods, oak remains the most popular choice, but other types of wood floors are worth considering.  Hardwood flooring comes as strips 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 inches wide or planks 4 to 8 inches wide. Asia Carpet and Decorating has access to a wide variety of wood flooring options at great prices from some of the largest flooring manufactures in the country.

A variation on true laminate floors are engineered wood floors. Engineered wood consists of a real hardwood veneer attached to a number of plywood layers. This is a little more expensive than laminate because the top layer is real wood rather than a photographic imprint. This top layer of wood gives engineered wood floors a much more convincing sound, feel and look than laminate. It also makes the flooring more stable and less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity than solid wood.

One of the most value-conscious flooring options today is vinyl. It's an especially popular choice for rooms that are prone to moisture problems, such as basements, bathrooms and kitchens. Vinyl is also easy to clean and softer underfoot than tile. Vinyl is durable, low maintenance, and easy on the budget. Vinyl floors can look like hardwood, tile, or stone, and it comes in a variety of colors.  Luxury vinyl uses high-definition printing and provides a look that’s highly authentic.

Carpeting is one of the most versatile of all flooring options, featuring more colors and textures than any other type of flooring.  Wool carpeting is the standard of quality. It's naturally durable and resistant to moisture and stains, and it’s considered to have the best feel against hands and bare feet. With the exception of wool, most carpets are made of synthetic fibers. Various types include the following:

  • Nylon is exceptionally strong and resistant to wear.

  • Acrylic has physical properties that approximate wool.

  • Polyester produces bright colors and is highly resistant to moisture.

  • Polypropylene is often used for indoor/outdoor carpeting.
